36 years on, Shada is finished → PP

In 1979, the BBC were in the midst of filming a series finale for Doctor Who when strike action hit the corporation. The serial, written by Douglas Adams, was shelved and never finished. Until now.

The fourth Doctor, played by Tom Baker, returned to record all of the missing dialogue, with Lalla Ward reprising her character; the effervescent Time Lady Romana. Live action scenes recorded in the 70’s were joined together with modern animation to bring Adams’ tale to life.

As a side note, Paul McGann played the eighth Doctor, alongside Lalla Ward’s Romana, for a different telling of Shada. Based on the original storyline, it was altered a little to fit in with McGann’s character and place in the shows history.

Shada is available now.
